A toolbar for editing an article in WordPress is similar to that in the word processing softwares.

The toolbar as seen in the picture below is using Visual mode, i.e. as an alternative of HTML mode. (The HTML mode is for editing HTML documents, this mode is for you who are familiar with.) Here some explanation of some of tools in the toolbar that you might not recognize them. Because, the other tools you already know in the word processing softwares.

  1. The toolbar is on Visual mode.
  2. The tool is for inserting photos or images.
  3. For inserting videos.
  4. For inserting audios.
  5. For inserting media files.
  6. For creating a link. Here is how: Block a word (some words) in your article, then click the tool and type its link (URL) in a window that appear.
  7. For removing a link (unlink) on a word (some words). Here is how: Block a linked word, then click the tool.
  8. For breaking an article so that the only first part of the article that will be displayed, for reading the second part (in the next page), visitors should click “Read more…” or similar to that.
  9. For displaying an editing area on full screen mode. So the area will be larger.
  10. For displaying the other part of toolbar, click one more to hide it.
  11. Sometime you don’t write an article in WordPress editing area. But you write an article on a text editors or Notepad. If you want to move the article to the WordPress editing area, block the article on Notepad, press Ctrl-C to copy it. Then in the WordPress editing area, click the tool. In a window that appear, press Ctrl-V and click [Insert].
  12. The tool is similar to the tool above, but you are using Microsoft Word instead of Notepad.
  13. For removing some formatting you have applied.
  14. For inserting media files (Flash, Quicktime, Shockwave, Windows Media, or Real Media).
  15. For inserting special characters.
