We have previously discussed here about statistics plugin, ShortStat. If you have not installed it yet, there is an alternative of statistics application. Fortunately it doesn’t require you to install it. It has been available in the cPanel.

Login to cPanel, and find the application in Logs group. Actually, you will find some applications here, all of them are for monitoring your site. And one of them is a statistics application, simply run it by clicking the application.

Each cPanel might be providing its own statistics application. In my cPanel I have Weblizer. To run it simply clicking its icon.

Statistik cPanel

In this example we are using Weblizer. After clicking its icon, you will see a screen as below.

Pilih domain

If you have more than one domain, Weblizer will display all of them. Select one of your domains by clicking on View column. You will be given a summary of traffic data of your website. You can click on particular month to view more data of the month.

By using the application you don’t need to install statistics plugins. It is very useful and practical.

Well, your webserver can crash anytime. So you need to make backup of your website data.  Your web hosting provider usually make backup of their web servers but you still need to create your own backup. It will speed up recovering your crashing website.

The easiest way to backup is to use cPanel. All your data, including WordPress files and databases, will be backed up. Here is how:

  • Go to cPanel. Find an icon called Backups and click it.
  • On the display that appears next, see on [Parial Backups]. Click [Home Directory] to backup WordPress files and data in it. Click on database filename for making backup your MySQL databases.

Happy backup

  • To restore the data also very easy (see on the right). Click [Browse], select the files and click [Upload].

Please make backups regularly.  It could be daily, weekly or monthly, depending on how often you update your website. According to backup procedures, keep three same backups in three different places, for example, save them in a PC, a CD, and an external harddisk.
